We all need to wake up and realize that we are living a “wag the dog” life every day. It is a country of carefully planned distraction aimed at taking more of what we were granted in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. While the important issues, like being a true representative democracy for the people by the people, are being neglected purposely by powers that are truly in control, we are fed juvenile nonsense on hot button issues that evoke our emotions to create division.

Imagine there were no such thing as abortions, guns, and borders?

How different our country would be if we primarily focused on issues where we could find middle ground and discuss important policy considerations like adults. This would stop the infighting and prevent a massive wedge from artificially dividing the ‘Red’ and the ‘Blue.’ We need to return to the parties of yesterday when politicians in city, county, state, and federal legislatures could compromise and achieve something for all of their constituents.

We are not trying to minimize guns, abortion, and borders; all three issues are serious and need the attention of voters, but the Peoples’ Union platform does not espouse a specific ideology. Rather it takes applied ideas from the traditions of libertarianism and social democracy, among other political perspectives. The Peoples’ Union platform puts people first.

This is how we stand on the three hot-button issues that are literally tearing our country apart:

We stand for law and order on the borders to prevent criminals, drugs, and those who wish to come here illegally from entering our country. We are for eliminating drug cartels, as we do terrorist organizations, that pose a threat to the well-being of our society.

We support the 2nd amendment. We have no desire to eliminate guns, but we do believe in common sense measures like proper background checks, mandatory firearms training and licensing, and removing the most insidious ammunitions from public use like .223 and 5.56 rounds.

Finally, we believe abortions should be rare, safe, and legal. Until we can show that we respect the lives of fully formed humans who are conscious and have friends, loved ones, emotions, hopes, dreams, and aspirations, how can we purport to respect unborn life? We do not protect life in this country, we seek to control it; we do not support the basic human needs of all who are already here.

We advocate for free birth control and sex education for every adolescent attending public schools, paid for by the universal healthcare system. We want to prevent unwanted pregnancies, but when they do occur, we must respect human rights. How can we force a woman to have a baby if it means she will never be able to conceive again, or may even die?  What if she is living in poverty and cannot afford a child, or is not mature enough to have a child? In many cases unwanted pregnancy is the result of a woman being the victim of rape or incest.

If you are going to be a sanctimonious warrior and oppose all abortions, please only do so once we have implemented FDR’s Economic Bill of Rights. This means that no child is going to bed hungry or is in the foster care system, and every child has a warm bed, a roof over their head, three square meals per day, healthcare, and an equal, quality education regardless of their socioeconomic status.

Until then, can we agree to implement a federal law that would ban abortions past 20 weeks? The Peoples’ Union is not here to argue when life begins, or when a fetus becomes a human etc. We wish to be pragmatic and compromising about an issue that has created so much division and hatred in our country.

Now is the time to put aside differences in opinion, no matter how staunch our beliefs. We must understand that these hot button issues are effectively being used to distract us from what the corrupt politicians, their handlers, and corporations have been doing for decades now, which is pushing their agenda of taking more control of society in every way, removing freedoms, and siphoning the wealth of the nation into the hands of the few.

Big corporations live in a cushy world or pure socialism, free money, bailouts, massive tax breaks and cheap labor, while the rest of us – me and you, our mothers and fathers and loved ones – are left to fight it out in a dog-eat-dog ruthless capitalist system. We believe in capitalism, just as Keynes did, and free markets; we are not in favor of a pure socialist or a communist government. Rather, we are in favor of Keynesian economics, which takes a more interventionist approach to balancing the economy and creating a more equitable society.

The Peoples’ Union Manifesto

A Book by Ray Gross

The Peoples’ Union is about taking back America by forming a nationwide political action group. Our goal is simple. To take back America from the corruption that has infested our Federal Republic on every level. We will accomplish this and take back the country by taking 35 steps that include:

  • Non-profitizing all mandatory insurance, energy companies & big pharma
  • Establishing Medicare for all Americans
  • Free to low cost higher education & technical trade schools
  • Revoking the non-profit status from all churches & religious orgs. so they will pay taxes
  • Federalizing a woman’s right to choose what she does with her body
  • Stricter oversight of the Federal Reserve
  • Legislation that prevents banks from exorbitant credit card and loan rates
  • Creating Universal Basic Income (UBI) for all Americans
  • Campaign finance reform- taxpayer funded elections
  • Fixing the housing & homelessness crisis through pragmatic compassionate measures
  • Implementing a flat tax of 35% on all corporations
  • Sensible gun control to keep the guns out of the hands of the most dangerous people & banning certain types of ammunition
  • Pragmatic immigration and border policies
  • Federalizing K-12 so every child receives a top notch education despite of income
  • Cleaning up our agriculture industry with EU rules on animal treatment and Monsanto
  • Modifying the Patriot Act to restore freedoms Americans have lost
  • And much more

We will pick up where FDR left off and implement his economic bill of rights ensuring all Americans have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Destroying corporate welfare and implementing Keynesian economics to create an economy that will regulate big business, eliminate monopolies and oligopolies and create an even playing field to open up all markets to more entrepreneurs and businesses. No more economy where profits are privatized and losses are socialized. So what do you say folks? Join me and let’s take back this country one vote at a time!
