The Peoples’ Union’s is in favor of implementing stringent regulations for social media platforms, apps, and browsers on the worldwide net—with the primary objective of safeguarding user privacy and curtailing excessive data extraction and tracking. Under these regulations, access to browser history will be prohibited, ensuring users’ browsing habits remain private and cannot be exploited for targeted advertising or other purposes.

To address concerns about unauthorized access to personal data, our proposal specifies that platforms will only be allowed to store and track activity that occurs within their own platform. They will be strictly prohibited from accessing or extracting any other information from users’ phones, laptops, or desktops. This restriction aims to prevent the indiscriminate collection of personal data and empowers users to retain control over their information.
Our proposal is driven by the belief that individuals should have increased privacy, and the government have reduced secrecy, in all areas of their lives. It aligns with the principles outlined in the Bill of Rights, in seeking to counteract unconstitutional predatory spying on U.S. citizens. By implementing these regulations, we aim to dismantle manipulative practices that have arisen due to invasive data collection. This will enable individuals to think critically about issues and access a diverse range of information.
The development and refinement of these regulations will require extensive collaboration with internet privacy experts, legal professionals, and relevant stakeholders. Our goal is to strike a balance between privacy protection and responsible data usage in the digital age, fostering a society where individuals can thrive while maintaining control over their personal information.
